THE BODY AND OTHER SMALL TALES: PERFORMANCE AT THE STATE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART COLLECTIONS.

Performance art begins and is completed through the use of the body. The exhibition "The Body and other Small Stories. Performance at the State Museum of Contemporary Art", which will be hosted at the Thessaloniki Centre of Contemporary Art (Warehouse B1, Port) from March 21 to June 6, is a tribute to performance art,through the presentation of photos and video, archive files and objects resulting from performances and exhibitions that have been organized by the SMCA, and are now an essential part of its collections. (Opening: Saturday, March 21, 12:30 / days & hours: Tuesday to Saturday 10: 00-18: 00).

The aim of this exhibition is to investigate and disclose to the public the methods through which each artist invents and expresses his artistic practice having as an essential material the body. In addition, it highlights the relationship of performance with other art forms that have as a reference the concept of physicality. The exhibition is accompanied by a full record- chronology of performances which were organized since the opening of the State Museum of Contemporary Art.
