Stirring images of the financial crisis, immigration and life on the margins of society, but also disarmingly human everyday stories pass before Enri Canaj’s lens. Born in 1980 in Albania and now living in Athens, the young photographer turns his gaze on Greece and his home country in order to capture snapshots that remain indelibly etched in the viewer’s memory. Canaj focuses on contemporary Greek society, on difficult topics that shock in their truthfulness. Representative photos of his work and projects will be shown at the photography exhibition which will take place during the 16th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival – Images of the 21st Century (14-23 March 2014). The exhibition will be held at the State Museum of Contemporary Art and was made possible thanks to the kind support of the Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki.
Enri Canaj arrived with his family in Greece in 1991. He studied photography and has participated in photography projects and exhibitions. He works as a freelance photographer in local and international print media and websites. His photographs have traveled to exhibitions throughout Europe.
