The State Museum of Contemporary Art (SMCA) needs your support in order to carry out its programme. The international exhibition activity and the successful agenda in the sector of production of innovative events and promotion of contemporary art remain our primary objectives; however the viability of our program is threatened by the reduction of our financial resources.
Your moral support and your financial contribution, be it small or large, would be decisive for the continuance of our programme. You could choose to support: the exhibitions, the educational programmes, the reinforcement of the protection of the works and collections, the acquisition of new works, the conservation of the works and/or the museum operating costs. Our supporters enjoy many advantages and their support is communicated through our media outlets both in Greece and abroad. You could choose by yourself the way to support the museum or you could choose one of the following groups of activities.
You could proceed with the deposit of the selected sum of money to one of the following ‘SUPPORT’ bank accounts with your name and surname, or anonymously if so desired. For the named deposits, please contact us at the email address mariap@greekstatemuseum.com so as to be able to express our appreciation to you for your support.
For further information in terms of the programme and the benefits of the supporters please do not hesitate to contact us at the email address pr@greekstatemusuem.com and at the telephone number +30 2310 589 152.

The State Museum of Contemporary Art (www.greekstatemuseum.com) was established in 1997. From those early years the Museum has grown steadily and developed dynamically. Today it constitutes a very important institution for the reception and promotion of contemporary culture through its programme of activities which has been developing upon the following lines:
the management of the Costakis Collection, one of the major collections of Russian Avant-Garde art outside Russia, by means of innovative productions, co-productions and research programmes in Greece and abroad,
the organisation of exhibitions and activities for contemporary art in Greece and abroad
the production of works of art as well as a variety of publications on the visual arts with educational character,
the organisation of the Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art and the formation and support of substantial dialogue between the Greek artists and the artists of Europe and of the world,
the organisation of model artistic and educational programmes for children and adults (museum educational activities, courses, seminars, concerts etc),
the design and implementation of educational programmes as well as of outreach programmes of equal opportunity and equal access for sensitive social groups.
As a result of the sound management of the SMCA, the international collaborations and the Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art, the State Museum of Contemporary Art has been added to the map of the most significant European museums of modern and contemporary art.
In 2013 and despite the economical crisis, the Museum collaborated with 14 museums in Greece and abroad, and realised 18 exhibitions, as well as the forth edition of the Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art (biennale:4), with broad diffusion and reception in the city of Thessaloniki and with a rich programme that included a Performance Festival, Young Artists’ Workshops and scientific meetings, as well as 9 conferences, two educational programmes for adults and many scientific and research collaborations, educational programmes and guided tours on a daily basis, as well as concerts of classical and experimental music. The plans for the programme of activities of 2014 are equally rich, but they should not weigh down the museum budget appropriated on the whole for the operating needs. The thousands of visitors reported for the year 2013 demonstrate day by day that the State Museum of Contemporary Art is on the frontline of the cultural and artistic activities in Greece and the Mediterranean region.
The economical crisis forces us to restrain a lot of our operating costs. However, we make a great effort to avoid reducing the exhibitions, the activities and collaborations. Thanks to the trust and support of our friends, we have accomplished our goals up until now.
The SMCA needs your support. Any sum of money offered will support significantly the continuance of our activities programme:
5 euros will help us support the technical operation of the departments and mostly of the Public Relations department that is in charge of all the contacts with the friends of the museum who are updated upon all our activities on a steady basis.
